CADEFM CH and the IKT institute of Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW arrange the 4th Composite Summer Academy taking place at Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz in Windisch. The seminar from September 23-27 2013 covers these topics:

• Laminate theory
• Construction
• Simulation with ANSYS Composite PrepPost
• Testing
• Comparison of test and FE simulation results

René Roos from EVEN gives the lectures on theory of composite materials and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). First the basics of the Classical Laminate Theory and FEA are discussed. In addition, ANSYS Composite PrepPost is introduced to evaluate the stiffness and strength of the construction.

We are very excited to announce that as of April 2, 2013 EVEN is now part of the international ANSYS family. You may know ANSYS as a world leader in engineering simulation technology and services. EVEN and ANSYS have been collaborating since 2008. Based on its knowledge and expertise in composite analysis EVEN developed the ANSYS Composite PrepPost (ACP) and has been shipping it to ANSYS customers since. Given the synergy of the teams, the common goals and the fruitful collaboration it became clear that much can be gained from taking the  EVEN-ANSYS partnership to the next level.

This year's destination for annual company ski trip was Lenzerheide in Graubünden. While Zurich remained under cloud cover we enjoyed the glorious sunshine and superb snow conditions. After the first day of skiing we checked into a mountain hostel above the valley. The mountains of the Albula region served a beautiful backdrop and complemented a great evening meal. The next morning, we were the first on the slopes for another brilliant day of skiing and snowboarding. After a great weekend, everyone is back in the office relaxed and safe and sound.
